247-1. Functions of the Planning and Building Department.
(a) There is hereby created a Planning and Building Department of the County of Humboldt under the direction and control of the Board of Supervisors. Said department, along with the Zoning Administrator are part of and serve to support the Planning Commission, which is the County’s designated planning agency. The Planning and Building Department shall perform those duties and exercise those powers delegated to it by the Planning and Zoning Law and other acts of the legislature as well as such other powers and duties as may be delegated to it by the Board of Supervisors. (b) The Planning and Building Department shall be charged with the enforcement and administration of all laws, ordinances and policies regarding planning and building, including the erection, construction and alteration of buildings and the regulation of land uses, zoning, subdivision and surface mining. The Department shall have the duty of maintaining Board adopted land use plans, building regulations and associated administrative procedures including issuing any and all building and planning permits which are or may hereafter be required and of making any and all inspections which may be incidental thereto.
