Pursuant to § 42001 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, it shall be unlawful and an infraction for any person to drive a vehicle upon the portions of County roads referred to in this chapter at a speed in excess of the prima facie speed limits prescribed herein. Every person convicted of such infraction shall be punished upon a first conviction by a fine not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00); for a second conviction within a period of one (1) year by a fine of not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00); and for a third or any subsequent conviction within the said period of one (1) year by a fine of not exceeding Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00).
