(a) No person shall drink any alcoholic beverage in any place open to the public except in a business licensed to serve alcoholic beverages.

(b) Upon approval of an application by the Board of Supervisors, the Humboldt County Sheriff or their designee, permission may be granted for a person, persons or groups to allow for public events in which the drinking of alcoholic beverages will be allowed on a public place not otherwise authorized for such a use. Such an application may be approved if the applicant has received necessary permits or authority from applicable state and local agencies including, but not limited to the Community Development Services Department, the Department of Health and Human Services or the State Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. The Board of Supervisors may develop regulations to add any other permit requirements not herein specified. (Ord. 2364, § 8, 6/20/2006)
