(a) No person shall transport a dog in a motor vehicle or trailer on any public road or highway unless the dog is safely enclosed within the vehicle or trailer or is protected by cross-tying or by a canopy, cage, container, or other device that will prevent the dog from falling from, being thrown from, or jumping from the vehicle or trailer.

(b) The provisions of subsection (a) above shall not apply to any person actively engaged in performing normal ranching or farming duties, or actively engaged in legal hunting activities. (Ord. 1667, § 1, 1/15/1985)
